Fraternization

Fraternization and inappropriate relationships are not acceptable in the Army. Fraternization does not necessarily mean that individuals are engaged in a sexual relationship or that they are even friends and a lot has to do with how a person’s actions are perceived by others. A simple cup of coffee with the supervisor in the employee lounge can seem inappropriate to others and rumors can quickly spread out of control. We all know that relationships between Enlisted and Officers are a No-Go especially within the same unit. The Commander must take action as soon as he/she finds out about fraternization within the unit and should consult with JAG prior to initiating the cease contact order just to cover all the bases. Soldiers engaged in Fraternization should be counseled on DA Form 4856, developmental counseling form. You can find more information about the Army Fraternization Policy in AR 600-20.
